The IntuiKey series
keyboards contain two distinct software files: the Operating System
firmware and a Language Table file. Although the firmware in a keyboard
determines its operational functionality, the Language Table determines
the personality of the keyboard because it contains the various text
phrases that are shown on the LCD displays. How to determine
your keyboard firmware version: To determine your
IntuiKey's firmware version, simply power off/on the keyboard. The
firmware version is displayed briefly on the main LCD screen. (Do not
confuse the firmware version number with the 'Protocol' and 'Bootloader'
numbers that are displayed at the same time.) Required
Files: In order to update the firmware or a Language Table in an IntuiKey, the IntuiKey Downloader program must be downloaded and installed on a Windows NT, or 2000 based PC. Click HERE to download the IntuiKey Downloader program. First, save the downloaded file in a temporary folder. Next, run the file to install it on the PC. Follow the on-screen prompts once the install program begins. Only those Language
Tables that are compatible with the version of the keyboardís firmware
should be used. If necessary, update the keyboard's firmware first then
update its Language Table. Refer to the table
below to determine which Language Tables are compatible with the keyboard
firmware versions:
To download a
compressed file of the latest IntuiKey firmware, click the link shown in
the above table. When prompted, save the file in the folder that was
specified when the IntuiKey Downloader program was installed on the PC
(for example: "C:\IntuiKey"). After the transfer has finished, run the file to uncompress it into its
"S19" format so it can be used with the Downloader
program. To simplify transfer,
the Language Table files are supplied in a compressed self extracting file
format. When prompted, download the file into the folder which was
specified when the IntuiKey Downloader program was first installed on the
PC. After the transfer has finished, simply run the file to uncompress it
into the proper "S19" format so it can be used with the Downloader
program. If multiple Language Table files are downloaded, you can easily
identify which file is which because abbreviations of the languages
contained in the file are included in their file names. For example, the
latest default Language Table file contains 6 languages and is named:
"U_ENG_SPA_DUT_FRE_GER_ITA_xx.s19" RS-232
Interface Cable Specification: An industry standard 9-pin female to 9-pin female null modem RS-232 cable (Philips CSI part number "S1385") will be needed to connect between the PC and the IntuiKey keyboard. If you prefer to make one up yourself, click HERE to open a drawing of the required cable pinouts. Firmware and/or
Language Table Update procedure: 1. Download and install IntuiKey Downloader program on to PC. 2. Download firmware and/or the appropriate Language Table files into Downloader program folder location. Make sure that the original files have been run to uncompress them into "S19" formats. 3. Connect the serial RS-232 cable between the keyboard and an available PC com port. 4. Place keyboard into 'bootloader' mode per instructions in "Readme" file supplied with "IntuiKey_Downloader" program. The technique to place the keyboard into 'bootloader' mode depends on the keyboards current bootloader version, so review the instructions carefully. 5. Open the "IntuiKey_Downloader" program. Select the appropriate PC Com port number and the desired ".S19" file to transfer into the keyboard. Use the 'Browse' button, if necessary to select the correct ".S19" file. 6. After the transfer
has finished, power keyboard off/on. If doing both firmware and Language
Table transfers, power off/on after each download. Firmware
Release History: To
assist in determining if a firmware update is required, here is a summary
of the IntuiKey firmware release information, in newest-to-oldest
order: 1.10 (July
2002) Operation of the
keyboard "SHOT" button was enhanced to allow entry of a preposition scene
to be stored when the button is pressed twice. An
Advanced Menu button was added in the main Camera Control menu to reduce
the number of keys that must be pressed to access an AutoDome cameraís
advanced programming menu. Other
minor changes included an IntuiKey baud rate setting option and the
following AutoDome related softkey functions: An
Allegiant login related issue was corrected that with user passwords of 4
to 6 digits in length. 1.03
(June
2002) A
'quick selection' menu function was added that allows users the ability to
quickly jump from one menu to other previously designated menus by
pressing only 3 keystrokes. Various
enhancements to multiplexer screen control features have been implemented,
including those associated with navigating and selecting cameo boxes when
in System4 multiplexer multi-screen views. Enhancements to
the auxiliary on/off button functions were made so that data is
continuously sent out as long as the button is
pressed. When in
System4 multiplexer mode, the VCR Control menu is automatically displayed
after the Search button is pressed. Support
of Allegiant User Function 22 was implemented. This feature allows the
keyboard to generate 'fixed speed' P/T/Z commands to provide control of
very old receiver/driver devices, even when the Allegiant system is
operating in the 'variable speed' mode. Minor
changes associated with the operation of Allegiant User Functions 2, 3,
and 9 were made. 1.02
